…Okay so it wasn’t completely like that. But the room was red.
This was our first gig in the West End at the Comedy with Dead or Alive Promotions.
The very thought of trying to drive around the centre looking for a cheap place to park made this gig a tube job (added to because the venue could also supply the backline). Unfortunately Simon found out one of the downsides to having all your sounds set by the amp. Especially an amp without wheels…
Once there all was good. Its a cool little venue and the engineer was great. Although when we sound checked at the beginning the engineer came over shaking his head saying “your just too loud”. This is mainly because we haven’t had the amps mic’d up before and JD isn’t the quietest drummer you’ll hear. Plus it being Rock! 🙂 Once this was sorted the sound was nicely rounded. A lot of people remarked on it being one of the only gigs we’ve played where everything could be heard evenly. A lesson, then, to put your faith in what the engineer says…possibly not all engineers though! 🙂
We went for a much more ‘BAM-BAM-into the next song’ method this time. It was an excellent feeling. No pause for a breather, only a capo change. The audience appeared to approve of this method too. A BIG thanks to all those who came to see us.
We also met Fil and Grif from Wings of Pegasus there. Great guys. We went to see them play on Sat. Worth going to see if you can. They put on a great show.  http://www.wingsofpegasusband.com

Our first gig in the New Year & all went pretty well.
After a few wrong turnings and the joys of one way streets, we managed to get to the Dublin Castle in one piece…
Its good to say though that once inside everything went a lot smoother. We went on around 8:30pm and our thanks go to the engineer for giving us a great sound. There were a few hiccups – mainly just a dropped drum stick and a slight change to a song. But I’m glad to say nothing that wasn’t covered up nicely. The kind of cover up you get when you play with some good musicians. 🙂
Thank to all for everyone you came down and gave some great support. Looking forward to the next time.

Okay, so Sci-fi Circus are hitting the West End!
We have been given a gig at The Comedy (also known as The Red Room) with Dead or Alive promotions on the 2nd February 2011. This is a cool venue and nice and easy to get to.
We’re on at 8:15pm.
Tickets should be about a fiver. Here are the flyers. Just chose the one you want.
So starts the New Year and we start it as we mean to carry on.
Bugbear have given us a gig at the Dublin Castle in Camden on 12th January 2011. We’re due on at 8:30pm. So print off a flyer (or see us on the night) and come along. Hope to see you there.
Also playing on the night are: Rain Bailiff – Endeavours – The Rivalry
We’ve included two versions of the flyer. One if you want to go easy on the colour ink.

And the band played on….for a little bit.
After getting to know the roads around The Enterprise pretty well, we finally managed to park outside only to find out that its all permits and running up to 11pm! Luckily we could unload our stuff & then find a free parking space in another road.
Once inside all went well. JD was a little worried because the kit only had one rack tom, but the engineer Cliff disappeared and came back with an extra tom, no hassles. Sound check was cool and we just sat back until we had to go on. There was a good crowd of people when when played and it appeared most people were enjoying the set (we certainly were). After we played the last song we were told we could play another since The Beta Rays hadn’t turned up. Unfortunately we haven’t got a massive collection of songs (yet!) but we played what we had. Although this was a mellower song it appeared to go down well. Its times like this that you wish you had loads of extras on standby because I know we could have quite happily played on for a lot longer.
Also playing on the night were: Dead Cannons, Dusty Rosko, The Golden Retrievers and Nikki Murray
Many thanks go to Nic for turning out some great photo’s. He had previously said he wouldn’t be able to bring his camera this time. But not being content to let it rest there, he used the iPhone app Hipstamatic to grab some great shots.
Set-List:
After having a load of fun at our inaugural gig, we’ve managed to grab another. This time its at The Enterprise in Camden on the 27th November. The night is being hosted by Big Note and we’re due on at 10:30pm. The ticket prices are £6/£5 (with flyer).
A printable version of the flyer will be posted here as soon as we have it sorted, so check back regularly. Alternatively you can ask us for one. Hope to see you there.
NB. Although the Venue has no connection with Star Trek, I couldn’t help but make one.
Our first gig…well, not technically but our first with our new addition: The powerhouse that is Jildas Lancelot on drums. The venue was The Hope & Anchor, Islington with Big Note Promotions on Sunday 26th September. Also on the line-up were Tendawema, Sian Cross and Checkpoint Charlie.
Knowing the heritage of The Hope & Anchor we were a little nervous, especially since our previous gig was over a year ago. We were a little shaky at soundcheck but by the time we came on we launched into it and were soon well underway. Everything was topped off by a Tom Jones style ending. Overall a grand success.
Many thanks have to go to Nic for some awesome photo’s and Dave for getting our amps to the venue. As well as to Miriam for setting up the ending and all those who turned up and gave their support.
